OXY-FIT XTRA Wireless Earlobe Pulse Oximeter

What is it?

This reusable state of the art pulse oximeter sensor is made in the USA and is an inexpensive, less than 25% of the current cost of non-disposable sensors, to purchase. It is made of ‘Memory type material’ that can be shaped to fit any ear both child and large adult. It is lightweight, small, fits securely around the ear and has several adjustment features to make sure the sensor stays on the ear.

The wireless device eliminates artifact or interference from artifact with a built-in gyroscopic micro component to display accurate data even with movements of the head. This device is engineered to accommodate ‘apps’ for Smart phones, PC or any receiver device. The adjustment threading and paddle portions of the device allow complete size and fit for any person, freeing the hand from the tethering connection and artifact interference currently found in finger pulse oximeter sensors.

This allows the wearer complete freedom to move and use their hands.

The ear sensor provides greater accuracy due to elimination of artifact, better perfusion than fingers and the device’s built- in components  track and continually monitor the wearer of the device. Several of the features of the device include apnea monitoring, movement by apnea patients, trending apnea or cardiac patients by following heart rates dealing with tachycardia or Atrial Fib. Pilots of military jet aircraft benefit from the device by the ability of the device to alert the pilot of impending Hypoxia, thus preventing loss of the aircraft or the pilots themselves.

Hospital’s use less labor to monitor a patient’s oxygen saturation and heart rate status due to the lack of time consumed changing or moving finger sensors. Infection control is increased because of the decrease in contact between infection contaminated patients such as COVID-19 and hospital staff.

Apnea patients can now monitor their sleep, be warned by their smart phones when they go into apnea and have a record for their physician showing the data needed to qualify them for an apnea diagnosis. EMS techs can transport using this easy to apply device that can be left on for entire hospital stays if their patients are admitted into the hospital. Traumatic injuries can be assessed and treated rapidly on the scene with accurate data supplied by the OXY-FIT XTRA DEVICE when attached to the ear. Warfighters or civilian patients with burns or collateral circulation disruptions caused by traumatic injuries can be rapidly assessed by Medics on the operational field or EMS staff, then transported saving lives.

List Of Additional Benefits:

Simplicity of use, durability of materials, extended life over present oxygen sensors used

Fewer expensive, invasive Arterial Blood Gases required to obtain accurate oxygen saturations at the tissue level not in the lung.

Greater mobility for users, no tethering effect, increased use of both hands.

Weight of device slightly over 10 grams allows for increased comfort of not feeling a weighty device on the ear.

Manufactured material poses no threat of allergic type reactions to the device.

Device’s holder paddles are adjustable to allow for minimum compression of the earlobe eliminating injuries caused by possible over compression of the red light/infrared light portion of the sensor found in most present types of ‘clip’ type reusable sensors.

The device’s sensor paddles can be rotated 360 degrees to conform to any ear configuration.

Nurse’s workload cut by not having to constantly deal with changing of sensors, dealing with patients pulling off sensors due to lack of comfort, checking waveforms due to inaccurate readings from artifact, low temperature and decreased perfusion of patient’s fingers because of disease processes.

Ambient light is reduced to the sensor permitting greater accuracy of saturation results.

Use of this device has shown increased quality patient care and satisfaction.

Use by OR physicians for reducing sedation to levels only needed to maintain a patient’s sedation level.

Endorsed and tested by Critical care Physicians and nurses.

Cost & Usage?

The cost of this reusable device is inexpensive, about the same as the current non-reusable devices that are simply band-aid style finger sensors that fall off, restrict the users hand movements, need replacing constantly at an additional cost, tethers the hand to a cable leading to the monitor and do not allow for hand washing which with today’s COVID virus is unacceptable. Savings, increased by purchase
of the OXY-FIT XTRA device compared to other reusable devices on the
market, are a minimum of 50% and as much as 200%.

OXY-FIT XTRA is held securely around the ear with minimum pressure exerted on the earlobe itself decreasing the chance of any injury to the earlobe by the sensor. A threaded portion of the device allows for adjustment in a 360- degree rotation. Data is sent rapidly and accurately without the constant interference to the waveform sent to a monitoring device caused by artifact (movement) from the finger sensor that is now eliminated by placing the sensor on the earlobe.

OXY-FIT XTRA WIRED EAR SENSOR DEVICE

With OXY-FIT XTRA WIRED EAR SENSOR DEVICE, it can be used in hospitals with existing monitors or can be used with personal pulse oximeter.  The cost of these devices is comparable to adhesive band-aid type finger sensor, that is non-reusable unlike OXY-FIT XTRA WIRED SENSOR that is reusable.  Can be one time use per hospital stay.  Fits children to adults, is adjustable and contours to any ear shape or size.

Infection Control Benefits?

This application for hospitals is not only cost saving, by the use of one OXY-FIT XTRA sensor instead of multiple finger sensors used for each patient due to a multitude of reasons. OXY-FIT XTRA helps decrease cross-contamination to patients and decreases the unnecessary contact time spent by hospital staff (especially with covid-19 patients) changing and adjusting sensors that are on the finger. A major cause of poor waveform data sent back to the monitor is commonly caused by artifact transmitted by the wearer of those sensors because of its finger location. The secure earlobe sensor eliminates those artifact problems.

With OXY-FIT XTRA only one sensor is necessary from time of transport to entire hospital stay, from the emergency room or operating room to the recovery room and then to the floors creating an immense savings to facilities, especially rural facilities with limited budgets. This device is lightweight only several grams, is comfortable, durable and can be worn by large adults and children. Patient satisfaction increases, staff labor costs decreases.
